Oops
OK, the photo says it all. I raced today and had a Clif Shot Double Espresso tucked into my short. I reached around twice forgetting about the one sticking out of my shorts and then I had it about an hour into the race, or possibly longer. I have a FABULOUS tan now.
The race: Location was near Hugo, CO which is about 100 miles from Cans-Ass. I didn't know until today that the speed limit on I-70 is 75 once you pass the airport. How excited was I!?
Lots of ladies, lots of people racing out there and lots of wind. I don't have this altitude thing licked yet and find that recovery is my biggest issue. I can find the power, but I cannot do it when someone else wants me to, or more like when someone wants to drop me. I was hanging tough, had a few moments of high heart rate and then, blammo. I was dropped and trying to catch back on with a massive headwind. I found the strength a little late and was trying to get 2 other women to motivate. I dragged one down the decent at 38 mph into the wind and she said she had no power and that she was 49, but on the next climb, she left me. Bad Ju-Ju to her. I never saw her again.
Tomorrow I will attempt a crit, but with this whole no recover thing going on, I am not so sure it will be a good one. I took a little advice from Virgil and took an ice bath when I got home. HOLY... not too much fun! I hope it helps.
Amusing race notes: There was a scary lady who was teeny-tiny wearing assos shorts rolled up to her crotch and her jersey was tucked into her shorts. Never have I seen that... it made me remember fondly San Ardo 2005 where a chick had a pink string thong under her shorts. Breego and I would keep looking at each other and wonder why... some things you just never can understand even if you try.

Nice tan! I have horrible tan lines as well.
The few times I have ridden at altitude I found it very difficult to recover as well. I suppose you get used to it, but on cycling vacations it was just tough.
Tee hee. I'm so gonna call you on that at Bgame...
On the Clif-shot retardedness? PS BGame is way pricey! It's like a dollar a minute. That's bullshit. I won't be on Tinkie, but rather it's the revival of the Olmo. Watch out... I won Timpani cat 4 on the Olmo! ; )
PS the burn is so bad that I am sure it will still be VERY visible come Sunday.
bad? i think it's hot. kinda like me posing with skinny racer dudes. come back and race with us!! Burlingame?? Let's talk about superweek soon....
Girly-Lame. I will be there for my buck a minute race. Stupid Week hasn't even posted the freaking schedule... LAME but still planning on going and trying to do well.
You won Timpani cat 4 on the shreds of my flat tire...
(couldn't resist ;))
