The 411 on the ankle

Now I have seen Dr. Ross as well and he watched me pedal for an hour with Dr. Blake (podiatrist). So all my problems seem to have been caused by my saddle being about 1/8th of an inch too low. I was really surprised that a saddle too low can cause the same issues that a saddle too high can cause. "Severe Tendonitis" is the diagnosis. They did admire my pedal stroke. I will take all compliments as they come. These days I feel like I have gone through the wash with some nasty generic detergent that faded all my colors. Certainly not Mrs. Meyers Lavender detergent!

I rode on Thanksgiving Day and did two laps around Golden Gate Park. On Saturday I rode to the end of the bridge and back and on Sunday, I rode to Poggio and back. I had to have my coffee at my fancy sponsor who I have missed for two months!

Here's a photo of Sam, Breego and myself from a commercial for the Tour of California, Sausalito stage. We are sipping on or caps at Poggio. Note that Tinkerbell's saddle doesn't look low at all. Breego's so important, she's on the phone!

Un-Bahama Mamma

So a little about what's happening... My mom went in for a simple procedure about 2 weeks ago and the doc messed up royally and punctured her esophagus in multiple places. She has been in the ICU for the whole time and has tubes in her chest, neck, throat... it's horrible.

My sister flew here two days after the botched procedure and emergency surgery. She urged me to go on my originally planned dive trip to the Bahamas. I really didn't want to go seeing my mom intubated and all of that. After a few days, my mom started to look better, so I left for 6 days rather than 8 days.

Of course, with all of this crap going on, I got really sick. You cannot dive if you have a cold. I ended up just reading on the beach for a while and by Friday, I was able to dive (sort of... my ears have still not popped and it's Tuesday!).

Xanadu Dive Center on Grand Bahama was great. I did all my Open Water dive stuff and did an additional dive feeding sharks.

Here's my dive master and me when I finished my certification.

Here's the dive master and instructor getting suited up in their chainmail for the shark dive.

This is a photo of the fish fry. It was really cool as all locals and tourists all went down a little street to these sort of make-shift restaurants. This one is connected to an old bus.

I can ride, I can ride, I can ride...

OK, I have been given the OK to ride if you didn't know already. 30 minutes every other day... hey, it's a start! Early season races will be lost on me.

Chompin' at the bit

"I'm Lily and I live in Boston and it's COLD!"
I love French food although I get it directly from my mom.

So here is my little niece, Lily and her mom, Anne-Sophie. Although this was the last leg of my trip, I had to put these photos up here! I am the doting aunt and this kid is going to be seriously well dressed as I keep buying up the cutest things for her! Tee hee... I can get her nice things to wear and visit her, but I don't have to get up at 3AM when she wants to be fed.

New York City:
As I am still a noncyclist, I thought I would share some photos of all of the places I am going. I did have an amazing dinner in New York City with my work coach, Makoto at David Bouley. In fact, this was the best meal of the year as I did not get to France in 06. The 96 Bordeaux was a fabulous compliment to the duck breast.

See the pattern? No bike = food and wine.

The entry was very autumn- like so I took photos.

And what is a visit to New York without a stroll along 5th Ave? I had to stop in at Henri Bendel where I also took a photo and had non-botox eye stuff put on me which made my skin pull and I didn't like it nor the $100 per month cost.

I also had a swim instruction at the New York City Health and Raquet Club which was a short walk from the Waldorf. And, I did the most dreaded thing: I went to JFK for my flight to MN and in fact, I was flying out of LGA. I swear, I can barely remember my own name these days.

Minneapolis:
Off to Minneapolis to visit my college buddy Laura who moved back from Santa Monica a month ago. We were home-bodies and made apple pie and carved pumpkins.

Here's me making the apple pie. I am such a Martha.
