Bike To Work - -- Colorado

I know, Bike to Work day in Sf was around May 15th, but here in CO, we wait a little while. I have been riding my cross bike to work about 3 times a week for the last month or more and today I got to stop and get coffee at the REI on the way to work. Actually, they also tuned my cross bike as I was having to use my foot to get it into the little ring. I know, ultimate laziness. I was sad though as they were not giving out musette bags here in CO.

The news folks were at REI but when they realized that there was a dead body discovered on the bike path, they went to cover that instead. I don't think that this person was on their way to work...

Last night I had the pleasure of riding with Adam (CRC/SF) who was in town driving his parents' mini van. We started out into the wind and rain and our top speed was about 14 mph and we were working for that, but soon the rain stopped and the wind got calm. We had a fun time riding to and back from Golden. Adam is also the first CRC to see my new house. Jenn tried last week but was delayed 3 hours in SF thanks to United and didn't get to see my house. Next time!!

In other news, a RT DIA-LAX ticket at the last minute for work runs $770. Earlier this year, it was $450. I know gas prices went up but really!

Girly Ride

I was looking forward to heading to Boulder today (my mom says Bool-der). I didn't set my alarm and woke up at 8:27. Ugggg, we were meeting at 9 and it takes me 35 minutes to get there. I decided to chance it and was out of the house at 8:39. The only thing I managed to forget was my food. I ate breakfast on the way up and had no caffeine. OMG - - it's 4:30 PM and I STILL have not had caffeine!

Anyway, the ladies waited for me which is great. Nice little ride despite the 93 degree temps. I was dying on the way back to Amante and managed a bee sting on the side of my face. Nurse Nadia scooped up mud and smeared it on my face.

Back at Amante, a nice RM dude, Dan gave me a pair of his bibs since I am still kit-less thanks to a major fuck up by Verge. They didn't fit him as the fit kit we got was totally different than the actual kits received! Andy C gave me a full kit from 2006. That's a very nice team mate!!

As for racing, the plan is Niwot and then the RM crit. I guess I am still racing.

Misdemeanor?

OK, to get serious for a little while, the sheriff who killed Matt and Kristy has been charged with two counts of misdemeanor manslaughter. I am really upset about this.

"Misdemeanor charges, rather than felonies, were warranted because Council was not engaged in serious reckless driving, such as running a stop light, and he did not have drugs or alcohol in his system, Assistant District Attorney David Tomkins said."

I disagree, but I do tax and not criminal...

sigh, this still upsets me beyond belief.

Race Haiku

So my team mate Don from CA wrote this and I had to post it. Yes, I know I have been lame with the blogging, but just have not felt bloggerific!

-Two Wheel Criterium Santa Rosa
-tenth wheel with one lap to go
-no gas at last corner

I think this is one of the best race reports ever!!

Next topic: Boonen and the Coca-een. WTF!?

Alternative topic: Thor's thighs during the prologue of Dauphine. Yummers... what is sad though is skinny minny Levi beat him. DAMN.
