In trying to get acclimated,

I go to Minneapolis. I went to Minnie for a wedding this past weekend. Laura and I have been friends since senior year of college where we bonded in our house. I came up with a dance called the "chopper". See exhibit. I bet that this is not an original move... but don't I look scary?

Laura looked fab. The photog thought it would be cute to have us hold up her husband to be prior to the ceremony. We had about 5 minutes to spare and she came up with the idea. We almost dropped him. Also, Laura is clearly my friend as she gets injured. I called her before the wedding to see how her knee was feeling. "Fine... uh", hmmm, uh what I thought. She tells me how she took a digger down some stairs while showing her mom how fast she can run down stairs. She got the boot like I had back in October.

More on the weather...

Cuz my life isn't too exciting.

This is the view from my office today.

If you don't like the weather, just wait 5 minutes

I keep hearing this and I think it's true. Last night I dug through boxes for my Patagucci rain jacket and winter ski coat to wear for all of 10 minutes from the car to the restaurant. It was 42 and raining large freezing drops on me and all I had in my hotel was a fleece vest (I fit in.)

Today it was 70.

SF has taught me about layering but this is more like camping in Tahoe layering where it's 30 at night and 90 during the day! What do I wear, pants with zip off legs? I don't think so.

PS also checked out the painting of my pad... the Orange is almost gone. I sort of liked it, but it clashed with the red couch. Putty works better although it is blah!

Rocky Mountain Hi!

Hi y'all.

Well, it's official - - I am a resident of Colorado. It doesn't feel so permanent as I am living in a hotel and driving a rental Subaru (every other car here is a Subaru station wagon- - SERIOUSLY.) But, seeing all my belongings packed into 36 boxes, 18 cartons, 4 wardrobe boxes and 2 crates (plus the actual furniture) is a pretty clear sign. I thought I would stay in the Bay Area through today, but the movers were driving straight to Colorado and would be arriving on Friday morning, so I had to be here Friday morning, too.

My little house was supposed to be painted so that the movers could help me unpack, instead, I have boxes and furniture lining the middle of the house and the middle of each bedroom. The landlord replaced the bedroom carpet and it's an awful dark brown - - throw back to the 90's college apartment complex. I am pretty upset, but can't deal as the rest of the place is a mess, too. Ho hum... was wondering if I should have taken the bungalow with the crazy lease instead?? I am sure I will be fine.

I built up my bikes and rode to Golden on Friday afternoon where I found out that I need a new bottom bracket. My heart didn't feel too bad, but I am going so much slower than I normally do. Jenn gave me a loop out of Boulder which I tried yesterday - - very, very pretty and I got passed by old men. I went to watch part of a Crit in Boulder and found it strange to watch racers I don't know. I pinned some guys number which made me feel helpful.

Last night I met up with about 40 people I didn't know for a bike pub crawl. Most of you know that I am a huge drinker and hanger out of bars (not) but I thought doing something different wouldn't be bad. I got my WTB for the crawl and had a lot of fun. I met a couple of people who had lived in SF and Cole Valley of all places. There was a small crash on the way to bar #4. I stayed back from the main group in case wheels should tap.

Here's me on my last day. I drove to Saucy and had lunch with Jenn and then to Emporio Rulli for tea and a yummy something and then to the bridge for photos.

My dad and step mom took me to Blowfish for my last meal in SF.

Berkeley Hills...

No, not that Berkeley hills! My going away BBQ was at my dad's house in the Berkeley Hills. I had no temptation for doing the actual race.

We had good weather (no fog in the morning!) and so many great people came!! Breego brought a pinata which she believes is a necessary addition to any party. Apparently, it isn't a good party until someone cracks open the pinata

.
Of course, Breego also stuffed the pinada. Ever see one with Luna elixer, spare tubes, gu's and condoms? Don't forget the tootsie rolls!
My mom is enjoying one of my cupcakes. Yummy. I think I mastered butter cream frosting.

Picco and Gary Danko (Going Away Dinner 2 and 3)

My wonderful friend Karen and I had dinner plans. We figure that with me in CO and she in Sacto, we will see eachother as much as we did when we both lived here. Between her travels and my riding, it makes things difficult! We enjoyed a nice meal outside at Pizzeria Picco. Yummy pizza!

Gary Danko reservations were made about 6 weeks ago. My awesome director and coach took me to my best meal of 2006 and if I don't find myself in France this year, Gary Danko will most likely be the best meal of 2007. Makoto takes wine and food as seriously if not more than I take cycling. Makoto previewed the 67 page wine list and decided to bring a 1999 Chateau Margaux to open with our meal. WOW. So, the white was a Maursault (which is a very complex white that I actually very much liked) which I drank with the my first course tuna tartar and fish course of seared scallops. I had the Margaux with my duck breast and cheese course. God bless Gary Danko for having a substantial cheese course. I felt that the David Bouley meal in NYC was amazing, but seriously disappointed me with the lack of a cheese course! The desert was a chocolate souffle.

And... they have parting gifts of little cakes to enjoy with breakfast. I guess that assumes that I can eat again in the morning!!

Some of the ladies (Going Away Dinner 1)

A rare evening in SF, no jacket, outdoor dinner on Beldon and not being cold! Sam, Virginia and Jenn met me for my first going away party on Monday night. The weather was great and our Campagnola wine wasn't bad either!

Domage.Dopage.

I admit it! I gave him the benefit of the doubt. How could you not? He's so cute and looks so innocent. All in the name of trying to keep up with all the others on dope. The pro cyclists make me sad. I really hope that I never feel the need to try and get ahead to the point of doping? I guess for me though, I don't have millions to lose so it makes no sense to dope. I still think it makes no sense to dope period. So sad. So sad. I hope the others that are not caught up in Puerto are clean... sigh.
